Active Duty started off a number of years ago featuring soldiers, Marines, and navy guys. Most of the guys were straight and they often appeared in military gear. It was back in the day when we were all thrilled with seeing military guys breaking the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell rules jacking off or getting their cocks sucked for the first time, even fucking butt or getting fucked themselves.

These days, Active Duty has less of a military theme; in fact, most of the model profiles barely mention anything to do with the military. Today’s Active Duty, while it’s still designed in army green and uses words like “troops” and “the war chest” basically features amateur straight guys in jerk-off videos and hardcore suck and fuck action with lots of group and bareback sex. (And of course as soon as I said this, Sunday’s update features a guy wearing an army green t-shirt and dog tags. But my point is that if you’re expecting to see guys in full uniform sucking and fucking in the barracks or in army tents or out in the field, you’re not going to find much of that on this site anymore.)

It’s hard for me to tell you exactly how many military-themed episodes exist because the site has 54 pages of videos with eight episodes per page, and not every preview image has guys in military gear, but many do. What I can tell you is that of the 12 latest guys to appear on the site, only three of their profiles mentioned anything to do with the military. So, if you’re looking for guys in military uniforms jerking, sucking, and fucking, you’ll find some of that on Active Duty, and mostly in their older movies.

Still, that shouldn’t prevent you from joining Active Duty because I quite enjoyed my visit. The guys are 18 to mid-20s, mostly with athletic or muscular bodies, and they’re horny as hell. And Active Duty features a higher-than-normal number of threeway sex scenes and fourgies than most gay porn sites. I watched one of their latest foursome sex scenes and it was hot. I’ve had a bit of a problem in the past with gay porn sites billing their guys as “straight” because when I came out being gay was scandalous, guys weren’t even calling themselves bisexual back then. Aside from the fact that Internet didn’t even exist when I came out, it was impossible to imagine straight guys playing with other guys – everyone was on the down-low – let alone doing it for the cameras. They were a little on the fuzzy side and not as well lit. However the newer episodes over the past couple of years have much higher production values.

Each episode comes with a complete write-up of the guys and the action. There’s also a gallery of pictures, which are a mix of digital photos and screen grabs. And you can view them in thumbnail galleries, slide shows, or you can download a zip file and browse the photos at your leisure.

There were a couple of things I didn’t like about Active Duty. The tour gives you the impression this is a military site, and as I’ve mentioned, it’s not so much anymore. Some of the guys may be soldiers or ex-military, but Active Duty doesn’t really play that up inside like I would expect a military site should.

Active Duty also produces DVDs, so there’s a hard push in the member’s area for you to buy DVDs. This creates a bit of confusion because each scene appears in both the DVD and Scene section. This redundancy creates confusion, in my opinion. There’s really no reason to buy DVDs as you can download everything on the site and burn it to DVD yourself, if you want.

On the plus side, Active Duty has a live show every evening where one or more of the guys jerks his cock for an audience. There are 17 third-party video plugins where you can view even more gay porn. And there are three bonus sites, but I couldn’t get these to work at all in Firefox, and in Internet Explorer while they seemed to work, they just took you to the site’s regular update area, I couldn’t find any bonus content. (I’m still waiting to hear back from the site on this issue.)

Active Duty updates twice a week on Sundays and Wednesdays. Most of the updates are duos, threeways or foursomes, although sometimes they feature a solo jerk-off video. And some weeks they do provide members with more than the standard two videos. Not of all the episodes feature bareback sex, but there is quite a bit of raw sex on the site.

All in all, I enjoyed my visit to Active Duty. I found most of the guys were pretty enthusiastic about what they were doing and they really seemed to enjoy themselves. A lot of times, gay-for-pay guys can be a little boring to watch – do-me queens – but most of the guys I watched were, as I said, really into making their cocks and their buddies feel good.
